The Complement Franchise Head is responsible for defining, adapting, and executing the strategic vision for the Complement Franchise within the Rare Disease Business Unit. This role ensures AstraZeneca’s leadership across relevant therapeutic areas by driving sustainable growth, shaping market access, and delivering flawless execution of launches and lifecycle management.. 
The incumbent will manage the franchise’s P&L, drive financial and strategic performance, and lead a cross-functional team (CFT) composed of marketing, medical, access, sales, regulatory, compliance, and other relevant areas. The Franchise Head plays a key role in ensuring strong collaboration and alignment with both global and regional strategies. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute the mid- and long-term strategy for the Rare Disease franchise, ensuring alignment with global and regional priorities. 

  • Financial Mastery: Manage P&L, including business planning, forecasting, resource allocation, and financial decision-making to ensure sustainable growth. 

  • Excellence in Execution: Drive robust account planning, performance tracking, and launch readiness to deliver outstanding results. 

  • Cross-Functional Team Leadership: Lead and inspire the franchise team to achieve commercial, medical, and access objectives through collaboration and operational excellence. 

  • Brand & Portfolio Management: Oversee portfolio integration, launch planning, and lifecycle management to ensure effective positioning in competitive markets. 

  • Market Access & Policy: Partner with Market Access and Government Affairs to influence policies, secure optimal reimbursement, and accelerate patient access. 

  • External Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with Key External Experts (KEEs), scientific societies, and patient organizations to shape treatment paradigms and strengthen AstraZeneca’s leadership in the Rare Disease space. 

  • Talent & Culture: Lead, coach, and develop high-performing teams by fostering inclusion, psychological safety, and accountability. 

  • Governance & Compliance: Ensure all operations adhere to AstraZeneca’s ethical standards, company policies, and regulatory frameworks. 

Qualifications & Experience

  • Proven experience in specialty care or rare diseases, with a minimum of 5 years in leadership roles (commercial, marketing, or access). 

  • Strong record of launching and managing specialty or high-cost products. 

  • Deep understanding of rare disease market dynamics, patient journeys, and stakeholder networks. 

  • Demonstrated success in driving strategic, financial, and people performance in complex healthcare environments. 

  • Excellent leadership, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills. 

  • Fully bilingual (English required). 

  • Strong digital and Innovation mindset with experience using tools such as Microsoft Teams, PowerPoint, Power BI, and AI tools. 

Education

  • University degree in Medicine, Pharmacy, Life Sciences, or Business-related field. 

  • MBA or postgraduate studies in Business, Health Economics, or related disciplines preferred.
